ALGIERS- New ambassador of Ghana to Algeria, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, expressed Monday in Algiers his country’s willingness to « further » develop its relations with Algeria in all the fields.
« I will spare no efforts to enhance the relations with Algeria, » Nyamekye-Marfo said following his meeting with President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
He stressed the need for a meeting of the Bilateral Committee so to revive the cooperation between the two countries in all the fields.
Recalling that the Algerian-Ghanaian relations are longstanding,Nyamekye-Marfo said that his country « has much benefited from Algeria aid and assistance, » notably the aid of Algeria to Ghana in 1979, in the moment when some countries « refused to grant loans to Ghana, for the purchase of oil. »
« Algeria has also offered to Ghanaian students scholarships in medicine, in pharmacy and in other technical studies, » said the new ambassador, who hailed Algeria’s role for the restoration of peace and security in the region.
Moreover, he announced a forthcoming visit of Ghana president to Algeria.
