Maghreb News – The European Union on Monday disbursed 100 million euro to Tunisia as part of a 300 million soft loan scheme aimed at shoring up the country’s efforts to tackle an economic crisis worsened by the fallout of series of bloody terrorist attacks this year.
The money is the second instalment of the 300 million euro macro-financial assistance programme linked to the adavance by Tunisia in implementing economic reforms which are also tied to the conditional financial backing of the International Monetary Fund.
Pierre Moscovici, head of the EU’s economic and financail affairs, said in the EU’s statement tha the allocation of the new loan instalment mirrored the European bloc solidarity with Tunisia and its support for the North African country’s political transition experiment.
