“5+5 Defence”: Organization of 1st Training Module on New Security Strategies in Western Mediterranean

ALGIERS- The first training Module on the New Security Technologies in Western Mediterranean was held Monday at the National Army Circle of Beni Messous in Algiers, said a communiqué of the National Defence Ministry.

This first two-day Module, which falls within the framework of the military cooperation activities within the “5+5 Defence” Initiative for the year 2015, was organized by the Higher Institute of War, under the high supervision of Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaid Salah, the deputy minister of National Defence and chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, with the participation of representatives of the Initiative’s member countries namely Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Malta.

On this occasion, director of the Higher Institute of War, Major General Noureddine Khaloui affirmed in his speech “the importance of this Module and its objective.”

“The organization of this Module in Algeria highlights the appreciation of its efforts in favour of the Initiative 5+5 Defence, in dealing with the Western Mediterranean countries’ security stakes,” he said, adding that it also shows “Algeria’s participation in the joint work for peace and stability in the region.”

This event is an opportunity for the participants and representatives of the Initiative’s countries to strengthen the collective reflection and exchange experiences and expertise.
