قال سفير الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في تونس دانيال روبنستين خلال كلمة الاحتفال بالذكرى الـواحدَة و الأربعين لاسْتقلال الولايات المتّحدة الأمريكية ليلة أمس و في حضور رئيس الحكومة يوسف الشاهد قال انه عندما طُلِب منْ التونسيّين “ياقْفُو لْتُونس”استجابوا لذلك في إشارة لكمة الشاهد فور تعينه رئيسا للحكومة بالبرلمان .
و اعتبر روبنستين أن تونس تجَمُّع مِنْ خِيرَةِ الفنانين و المثقفين و غيرهم في شتى المجالات من الذين جَلَبُوا الامتيازَ لا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ فَحَسْب، بَلْ و لِتونس أيضا.
و حول الزيارة المنتظرة لرئيس الحكومة إلى واشنطن قال روبنستين في تصريح إعلامي إن الولايات المتحدة تتطلع لهذه الزيارة التي تتمحور حول أهداف كبرى و هي :
-مزيد التعاون الأمني و العسكري
-توفير مناخ استثمار و تحسين الظروف الإقتصادية
– مزيد تجذير الديموقراطية التونسية
كما أشار روبنستين إلى مجهودات قوّات الأمن التونسي التي تَسْهَر على حمايته شخصيّا وحمايةِ السفارة. مشددا على مجهوداتهم في حماية كل الفعاليات العامّة والمتعددة والمعقدّة التي تُقام في جميع أرجاء الجمهوريّة معتمدين في ذلك على خبرتهم والتزامهم و جهودهم الجبارة.
و شدد سفير الولايات المتحدة على استجابة التونسيين لنداء الوطن. مذكرا بعوْن الحرس الوطني الذي حمل امرأة مسنة من ساقيَة سيدِي يوسف عَلى ظهْرِه لإنقاذها من العاصِفة الثلجية التي ضربت المنطقة خلال شهر جانفي، أو جُموع التونسيّين خلال موْسِم الغريبة في ماي الماضي وهي تحتفي بتنَوع المشْهدِ التونسي و بالاحترام المتأصّلِ للتّعايشِ بينَ الأديانِ،أو متساكِني ڤْبلّي وسيدي بوزيد وجْبَل المغيلة الّذين ساندوا قُوّاتَ الأمنِ في إحباطِ الهَجَمَاتِ الإرهابيّة رسالتُهم في ذلك أنْ لا مكانَ للْإرهابِ في تونس.
أحْداث كهذه اعتبرها روبنستين تبرهن على عميق حب التونسيّين لتونس.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen
It is a genuine honor for me to welcome you to this evening’s celebration of the 241st anniversary of the United States of America
سيِّداتي سادتي،
يُشرّفُني حقّا أنْ أرَحِّب بكم بيننا هذا المساء ونحن نحتفل بالذكرى المِئَتَيْن و الـواحدَة والأربعين لاسْتقلال الولايات المتّحدة الأمريكية.
أودُّ أنْ أسْتهِلَّ هذا الحفلَ بالترحيبِ بضُيوفِنا المبجَّلين
وإنه لشرف كبير لي أن يكون بيننا رئيس الحكومة السيّد يوسف الشاهد. كما أودّ أن أرحّب برئيس مجلس نواب الشعب السيد محمد الناصر.و لا يفوتني أن أشكر وزير الدفاع الوطني السيّد فرحات الحرشاني على قبول دعوتنا. أيُّها السادة أعضاء الحكومة و مسؤوليها و النوّاب و ممثّلي الأحزاب السياسية، حللتم أَهْلاً ونَزَلْتُمْ سَهْلاً.

Independence Day is a day when Americans celebrate together something on which we all agree: We are devoted to our democracy, to our independence, and to our freedom.
This year, we are also celebrating the 220th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States and Tunis. Our connection grew even stronger when Tunisia joined the community of democratic nations. We have recognized Tunisia as a shining light in this region and well beyond.
But six years after Tunisia’s revolution, many people are impatient with the slow pace of change. They have found that democracy takes work. In the United States, we have been working at our democracy for 241 years.
When Tunisians were called upon to “stand up for Tunisia,” stand up they did. Some of those people are here with us tonight. Scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, musicians, activists, students, and athletes — they represent Tunisia’s best and brightest, people who have brought distinction not only upon themselves, but upon their country. These successes hint at the bright future ahead for Tunisia.

كان ذلك عيْنَ ما فَعَلُوه. يَقِفُ بيْنَنا الليلةَ بَعْض أولائِك الأشخاص: عُلَماء و فنّانون و رُوَّادْ أَعمَالْ و موسيقِيّون ونشطاءو طُلاّبٌ و رياضِيّون.
تجَمُّع مِنْ خِيرَةِ مَنْ في تونس و ألْمَعِهِمْ في مَجَالاتٍ شَتَّى، كَوْكَبَة من التونسيّين الذين جَلَبُوا الامتيازَ لا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ فَحَسْب، بَلْ و لِبَلَدِهِم أيضا.
But there are many others who serve Tunisia in a myriad of ways, but whose contributions go unrecognized. The poet Anis Chouchène honored them in this way
سَلاَمٌ لَكَ يَا مَنْ تَكْدَحُ فِي المَصَانِعْ
سَلَامٌ لَكَ يَا مَنْ تُكَافِحُ فِي المَزَارِعْ

وأَوَدُّ أيضا أنْ أتوقّف لحْظةً كَيْ أُقَدِّمَ شكري لِجميع قوّات الأمن التي تَسْهَر على حمايتي شخصيّا وحمايةِ سفارتِنا. وما احْتفالُنا الليلةَ إلّا عَيِّنة واحدةمن فَعَالِيّات عامّة عديدة ومعقدّة تُقام في جميع أرجاء الجمهوريّة ويعتمد نجاحُها على الْتِزامِهموخِبْرتِهِم. وعَلَيْه فإنّ جُهودَهُم الجبَّارة خَلْف الكَواليس تستحِقّ منّا كلَّ الامتنانِ وكلَّ التقدير. مَاذَاِبينا نْحَيُّيّوهُم بالتّصْفيق الحارّ!
No two democracies are alike, and Tunisia’s democracy, like its language, has its own special accent. This year, Tunisia took important steps that show the world the kind of democracy Tunisians want for themselves, passing many laws to protect their rights and their freedoms
But even as we join Tunisia in celebrating its numerous advances, even as we continue to praise “the Tunisian exception,” what we are working with the people and government of Tunisia to achieve is not exceptional at all: the ability to live in freedom and security, the expectation of a stable and prosperous future for themselves and for their children
For too many Tunisians, however, these basics remain out of reach. Faced with a precarious but improving security situation and a fragile economy, Tunisia has not yet reached its full potential.
But despite the many challenges, people time and time again have stepped up to the plate when the country needed them
و رغم كلِّ التحدّياتِ والصُعوباتِ، بَرْهَنَ أبناءُ تونس و بناتِها على أنَّهُم مُتَوَثِّبُونَ دَوْمًا للقيام بما يَجِبُ عندما يُنادي وطنُهُم. فكُلُّنا يَتَذَكَّرُ عَوْنَ الحماية المدنيّة الّذي حملَ امرأة مُسِنَّة من ساقيَة سيدِي يوسف عَلى ظهْرِه لإنقاذِها من العاصِفَة الثلْجية التي ضَرَبَت المنطقة خلالَ شهرِ جانفي، أوْ جُمُوعَ التونسيّين خلالَ موْسِم الغريبة في ماي الماضي وَهْيَ تَحْتَفِي بتَنَوُّعِ المشْهَدِ التونسي وبالاحترام المتأصّلِ للتّعايشِ بينَ الأديانِ،
أو مُتَساكِني ڤْبلّي وسيدي بوزيد وجْبَل المغيلة الّذين ساندوا قُوّاتَ الأمنِ في إحباطِ الهَجَمَاتِ الإرهابيّة رسالتُهم في ذلك أنْ لا مكانَ للْإرهابِ في تونس. أحْداثٌ كهذه تُبَرْهِنُ على عميق حبِّ التونسيّين لبلَدِهم، الأمْرُ الذي يُثيرُ فينا كُلَّ التأثّرِ والْاِحترام.
At times, the challenges facing Tunisia may seem insurmountable. But Tunisia is not alone. We are here tonight to celebrate the 241st anniversary of American democracy and freedom. But we are also here tonight as the world’s oldest modern democracy to stand with one of the world’s newest democracies. In the economy, we are working with the Government of Tunisia to promote job creation, social cohesion, and inclusive robust economic growth.
On security, we will continue to train and equip Tunisian forces including — but not only — with Black Hawk helicopters we delivered in June. And on democracy, we will do whatever we can to ensure that our great and shared ideals of freedom, openness and individual dignity continue to take root and to thrive in Tunisia. Because Tunisia’s success means success for this region. And success for the region means success for us all.
